5/16/2018 - CHSL Semi-Final CARDINAL MOONEY - 0 at SHRINE - 5

The Cardinals just couldn’t find the firepower to match Shrine in the CHSL Semi-Final march. After holding Shrine entering the first half down 1-0, Mooney played the entire second half down a player due to illness. Holding the Knights off the scoreboard the first 10 minutes of the second half, the heat and fatigue kicked in and became too much to overcome. “We were one mental mistake on a corner kick from playing them straight up in the first half. They couldn’t find the goal due to our defense. We tried to take some chances offensively in the second half and Shrine was able to find some opportunities to exploit that.” Said Mooney coach Frank Schodowski. “The girls can hold their head high. At full strength we know we can play with any team. It’s hard enough to compete with quality teams like Shrine with a full roster, but with a player down the second half, we really were on our heals just trying to survive.” The girls look to finish their regular season with a non-league match against Richmond this Monday as they prepare for the state tournament. “We have a good chance to make a deep run in the state playoffs. If we can stay healthy, I expect a great finish this year.” Said Schodowski.

4/11/2018 - CARDINAL MOONEY - 1 at WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES - 2

The Lady Cardinals fell to defeat against the Lakers in a hard fought match Wednesday night. Mooney put up a gallant fight playing 2 players short the entire match entering halftime with a 1-1 tie on a free kick goal from JR Casey Rice. “It was the type of game that defines teams and seasons. Regardless of the result, our team came together and grew stronger tonight. I’m very proud of their effort today” said Mooney coach Frank Schodowski. The Cardinals will look to rebound against Allen Park Cabrini on Saturday, April 21st in their first home match.

4/10/2018 - CARDINAL MOONEY CATHOLIC - 3 at RIVERVIEW GABRIEL RICHARD - 1

JR Casey Rice led Cardinal Mooney to victory against a talented Gabriel Richard team that proved to be Mooney’s toughest test yet. Rice opened up the scoring in the first half on an assist by SR Katelyn Tranchida. She added a goal late in the 2nd half to put away the Pioneers for good. JR Lauren Luzynski broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the second half. Mooney coach Frank Schodowski praised the defensive effort of Megan Kammer, Angelina Gabryel and Rebekah Kehoe. “Our defenders were the difference in neutralizing some very talented players over there - we made it very difficult for them to penetrate our backline” said Schodowski. Cardinal Mooney has opened the season with 4 straight road game wins and looks to play Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes on Wednesday.

4/9/2018 - CARDINAL MOONEY CATHOLIC - 10 at KIMBALL LANDMARK ACADEMY - 0

While an unusual April snow shower kept things frigid in the air, the Lady Cardinals remained red hot on the road against the Lakers of Landmark Academy. Senior Katelyn Tranchida led the attack with 3 goals. Coach Frank Schodowski praised the balanced attack of the team with goals coming from 7 different players. “We have a lot of players who can put the ball in the back of the net, and that definitely showed today”, said Schodowski. Cardinal Mooney will look to extend it’s streak on the road against Riverview Gabriel Richard on Tuesday. Other goals came from: JR Casey Rice (2), JR Lauren Luzynski (1), SO Sarah Kehoe (1), FR Isabella Pecoraro (1), SR Rebekah Kehoe (1), FR Angelina Gabryel (1)

3/27/2018 - MARINE CITY CARDINAL MOONEY - 9 at FRANKEL JEWISH ACADEMY - 1

Cardinal Mooney’s high powered offense was on display again against Frankel Jewish Academy Tuesday night. JR midfielder Lauren Luzynski and Freshman forward Angelina Gabryel led the Lady Cardinals with 3 goals each with additional scoring support from JR Casey Rice (2) and SR Katelyn Tranchida (1). Cardinal Mooney has outscored it’s opponents 17-1 in it’s first two outings. Cardinal Mooney Head Coach Frank Schodowski praised the attacking style of play - “We were able to find several opportunities to penetrate their back-line in transition, allowing us several break away chances that we capitalized on early in the match. The speed of our attacking midfield and forwards were the difference today”. Coach Schodowski also noted the stellar play of SR Goalkeeper Caitlyn Downey, “She was a wall in front of our goal that took the steam out of our opponent - stopping several break away shots early in the match”. Cardinal Mooney will look to continue it’s success on April 9th against Landmark Academy.

3/22/2018 - MARINE CITY CARDINAL MOONEY- 8 at DETROIT CRISTO REY- 0

Marine City Cardinal Mooney Catholic Girls Soccer started off their season with a 8-0 road win over Detroit Cristo Rey. JR Midfielder Casey Rice started the scoring with goals in the 3rd and 17th minute of the match and finished with 3 scores. JR Lauren Luzynski added 3 goals of her own in addition to 2 assists.
