CHAPTER HISTORY

The Father Welsh Chapter of the National Honor Society at Cardinal Mooney has been a pillar of the Cardinal Mooney community for many years. Students involved in the National Honor Society uphold the four pillars of NHS through their work in the community as well as in the classroom. The chapter regularly supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Pennies for Patients, volunteers in our church communities, and gives their time to the school.

Applications Opening Soon for the National Honor Society!

If you wish to apply, you must email a resume listing your leadership, service, and extracurricular involvement so far in high school, as well as a short response to the following prompt:

What does integrity look like in your day to day life? How is that integrity challenged? Describe how people around you show integrity and how this impacts you.

This organization looks upon eligibility as a product measured by four standards: scholarship, leadership, character, and service.  Students who aspire to membership in NHS are encouraged to meet these four requirements. By maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or higher students become automatically eligible to apply for membership. Acceptance is based off of the application, faculty reviews, and discipline records, and it is voted on by a Faculty Council.

The National Honor Society and Cardinal Mooney understand that everyone has the capacity to change, and some students may have a discipline record that does not reflect their current character. Discipline infractions do not necessarily disqualify students from joining, however, it is strongly recommended that if you have a discipline record you contact Mr. Coomes for additional instructions to improve your chance of acceptance.
