Guidance Counselor

Position Description:

Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School, a co-educational, Catholic learning community, is seeking a focused, dedicated, and qualified full time high school counselor to join our staff for the 2024-2025 school year.

Qualifications: 

-Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in School Counseling

-Michigan School Counselor License; satisfied all requirements to be employed as a School Counselor

-Experience as a high school counselor (preferred)

-Knowledge and experience assisting students with post-secondary planning

-Effectively uses data to provide informed and individualized counseling

-Excellent written and oral communication skills

-Experience working with both special education and general education students

-Strong attention to detail

-Demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement, including department and building goals

-Assist and consult with teachers and administrators on a variety of related matters

-Experience with PowerSchool Student Information System (preferred)

-The ability to support the Catholic identity of Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School

-Must complete the Protecting God’s Children workshop and state requirements for fingerprinting.

 

Responsibilities: 

-Provide academic guidance to maximize student development and preparation for future goals

-Certifies students' progression towards graduation; e.g., calculates accumulated credits, grade point averages, and class standings; records test information and determines promotion and retention decisions

-Coordinates and interprets testing programs in the school (PSAT, SAT and AP)

-Provides recommendations to colleges and scholarship sources and provides scholarship and financial aid information to students

-Collect, monitor, assess and report relevant student data that assists in attainment of school goals while developing appropriate student programming and interventions

-Assist with the scheduling process

-Consult with and assist parents in their efforts to support their child’s education and well-being

-Collaborate with staff to support students’ medical, academic, and social/emotional needs

-Conduct work in a manner that demonstrates a commitment to professional practice and procedures

-Participate in the Nonpublic Service Plan process to evaluate student’s learning needs, as needed

-Comply with confidentiality, FERPA and other applicable laws

-Maintain accurate and appropriate records and documentation

-Assist in coordination of student services within and outside of the school

-Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal

Varsity Track & Field

 

Job Summary
The Track & Field Coach reports directly to the Athletic Director.  The Track & Field coach has the primary responsibility for administering all levels of the Track & Field program and to analyze performance and instruct students in game strategies and techniques for improvement to prepare them for athletic competition.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes.
Manage and supervise athletic activities and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
Follow league policies, site procedures, and regulations in accordance with the student handbook and MSHAA policies.
Verifies player eligibility with Athletic Director.
Oversee the safety conditions of the facility where practices and competitions take place.  Report any unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
Take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of student-athletes, equipment, and facilities.
Responsible for distribution, collection and general upkeep of all uniforms and equipment and to provide an end of the season inventory.
Promote good sportsmanship during athletic participation and maintain student discipline at all venues.
Responsible for the safety of the team before, during and after events. 

Minimum Qualifications
Must complete all required AOD background check, fingerprints, and “Protecting God’s Children workshop through the AOD. 
High School diploma or equivalent.
Previous playing and or coaching experience.
