FOOD SERVICE ASSISTANT

 

Position Description:

Holy Cross Catholic School and Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School are seeking a Food Service Assistant. The Food Service Assistant performs cooking duties under the direction of the supervisor. They provide nutritional and attractive meals and ala carte selections to schools as specified. This is a part time position.

Holy Cross Catholic School and Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School are located in beautiful downtown Marine City on a shared campus. Our schools are home to about 300 students combined in preschool through twelfth grade. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of high quality food items according to standardized recipes or instructions in a fast, efficient manner in order to meet production, delivery and service schedules, including USDA Meals Per Labor Hour standards.
  • Serve meals or prepare for delivery at times, using correct portioning, meeting USDA minimum standards and ensuring that food is at the correct temperatures and is attractive and tasty.  Store leftovers following safe food handling procedures.
  • Use established cash and ticket collection procedures during service.  Responsible for cash and records from the area worked during service periods.
  • Operate the Point-of-Sale System (Meal Magic)
  • Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and storing excess food properly.
  • Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat.  All food and supply items are to be stored properly.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed.
  • Assist in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required.
  • Order supplies and food needed for the area of responsibility.  Assist in ordering and receiving all food and supplies.
  • Follow correct procedures for safety and sanitation at all times.
  • Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the Food Service Director immediately.
  • Attend in-service and/or safety meetings as required.
  • Work effectively and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, school personnel, administrators, students, parents and Food Service Director.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; ability to perform job safely.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Position Description:

The custodian is responsible for maintaining the physical school and campus grounds in a condition that ensures students, staff, and visitors have a safe, clean, and healthy environment. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) 12-month position.  Normal shift hours are from 12:00pm-8:00pm Monday - Friday.  The shift hours may be adjusted during times when school is not in session.

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Physically able to bend, stoop, reach, and climb ladders
  • Must be punctual, dependable, honest, and reliable.
  • Must pass a criminal background check before employment
  • Must have or obtain a Protection God's Children from the Archdiocese of Detroit. 

Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine cleaning of offices, classrooms, restrooms, lobbies and corridors as assigned using established practices and procedures
  • Tasks include:  collecting/disposing of trash and recycle materials, dusting and sanitizing furniture, desks, computers, phones and cleaning of fixtures, floors, windows and walls
  • Operates and maintains assigned power equipment and hand tools; auto scrubbers, high pressure washers, extractors, vacuums, brooms, mops and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture and windows
  • Performs regularly scheduled duties such as floor waxing, window washing, carpet cleaning
  • Moves furniture, equipment, supplies and tools as needed
  • Assists with inventory control and reports cleaning supply needs to supervisor
  • Attend safety workshops for to support safety compliance certifications, such as asbestos awareness training, bloodborne pathogen awareness, etc
  • Preferred applicant would be able to perform occasional routine maintenance 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Physical Demands:

Requires the ability to do a wide variety of moderate physical activity both indoors and outdoors;

  • Physically active for long periods
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects and materials up to 50 pounds
  • Repeating the same motions
  • Kneeling stooping crouching and crawling
  • Bending, stretching twisting or reaching out
  • Climbing stairs
  • Performing minor ladder work
  • Working outside in the heat, cold, rain or shine
