Service Hours Project

“Enter to learn. Leave to serve.” --Cardinal Mooney Catholic Motto

OUR GOAL

As a learning community, Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School seeks to prepare students for a life of service through their educational experiences. This mission is taught and modeled through the service that students and faculty provide to their communities throughout the year.

The goal of the program is to build up the next generation of servant leaders who are empowered to live out the command of Jesus to “love one another, as I have loved you.” (John 13:34) We take as our own the vision of St. John that “God is love” (1 John 4:8) and believe that in serving people in need out of love, we are sharing God and his love with the world.

OUR IDENTITY

We also take seriously the challenges of Matthew 25:31-46 and James 2:14-26 which call on Christians to center the authenticity of their faith around using religion to make the world a better place through acts of love and service.

The identity for our service program is founded on the Corporal Acts of Mercy. These are the official ways in which the Magisterium of the Catholic Church guides us to do service in the world.

Those are: To feed the hungry; To give water to the thirsty; To clothe the naked; To shelter the homeless; To visit the sick; To visit the imprisoned; To bury the dead.
